2456 PERROT

The plan for 2456 was to create a large, 3 bedroom, 3.5 bathroom bungalow with a walkout basement, taking advantage of the lot’s unique downward slope away from the street. The result , therefore, was that the 2500 square foot bungalow (which typically exists on one level) became a 5000 square foot home with two complete floors of living space.

The interior design was intended to have a warm feel and modern look. I began with the selection of the Brazilian bamboo floor, which was rich in both its appeal and quality. The modern kitchen displays dark grey lacquer cabinets with a matching wood grain ceramic as backsplash above the induction cooktop. Inserted therein are matching, sleek-design fisher paykel side-by-side ovens. All this sits behind the 13 foot waterfall ‘super white’ granite countertop island.

The living room enjoys ample sunlight afforded by the custom 9 foot windows, and sits beneath a 12 foot vaulted ceiling. The ceramic selection surrounding the fireplace was 10 foot by 5 foot slabs of marble, reducing the number of visible joints.

The master bedroom introduces a ‘sexy’ concept open master bathroom, modelled after the W hotel. The rain fall shower includes a linear drain avoiding any lip on the shower floor. A wrap around balcony connects the master bedroom to the kitchen patio.

The 2500 square foot walk out basement features a large gym area sealed by a custom glass wall. The adjacent wall displays a built- in wine rack sealed by glass doors, surrounded by a stone border. A cement accent wall leads us to the bar area highlighted by a 10 foot waterfall granite countertop island complete with flush mounted keg tap. Patio doors permit direct access to the outdoor kitchen (complete with built-in barbecue, fridge and bar) pool, hot tub and beach volleyball court. This outdoor living area was conceptualized for convenience and practicality.

This home, with its vast living space both inside and out is ideal for entertaining, and it has certainly served that purpose on many occasions.
